Waist to height ratio

It is calculated by measuring waist of the individual and dividing it by height of the individual. The measurement of the waist from the bottom rib and top of the rib bone is considered, which comes to be one inch above navel.

Waist-to-height ratio below 50% is considered to be normal and healthy person according to WHO.

Waist-to-height ratio is usually studied to find risk for cardiovascular diseases. Women have high risk of cardiovascular disease if their waist-to-height ratio is 0.53 while men having 0.55 ratio have high risk for cardiovascular diseases.

Ideal normal waist line is 30 inches or less for women and 35 inches for men.
